Mission
- To mainstream AYUSH at all levels in the Health Care System.
- To improve access to and quality of Public Health delivery through AYUSH System.
- To focus on Promotion of health and prevention of diseases by propagating AYUSH practices.
- Proper enforcement of provisions of Drugs & Cosmetic Act 1940 and Rules framed thereunder relating to the ASU&H drugs throughout the State.
- Development of Human Resource in AYUSH.
Overview
The Directorate of AYUSH, Assam was created vide. Govt. Notification No.HLB.221/2009/21 dated 28/02/2011 and has been functioning since the month of June 2012. The Directorate of AYUSH in the State controls the Ayurvedic & Homoeopathic system of Medicine. There is one Ayurvedic College and three Homoeopathic Medical Colleges in the State and there are Ayurvedic & Homoeopathic Dispensaries attached to the District Civil Hospitals, CHCs, PHC, MPHCs and State Dispensaries. The Department continued to lay emphasis on up gradation of AYUSH educational institutes, quality control and standardization of drugs, improving the availability of medicinal plant material, research and development and awareness generation about the efficacy of the systems domestically and internationally.
